In 1977, Dr. Hungate organized the first Occupational Health Seminar presented by the Great Plains Occupational Medical Association. He was the Program Chairman for the Seminar again the following year. In 1979, The Association named this Annual Postgraduate Seminar on Occupational Health for Carroll P. Hungate, M.D. It did so in recognition of his leadership and invaluable contributions to the Association. Quoting from an editorial that appeared in the Kansas City Star following his death: "Dr. Hungate...sought not only to be a better doctor himself, but searched for ways the entire medical profession might do a better job."
