Goals and Objectives
This program has been planned for a mixed group of health professionals with the emphasis on problems encountered by primary care practitioners. The goal is to provide the attendee with current information concerning the diagnosis and management of medical problems encountered in their daily practices. Upon completion of the program, the partcipants will be able to:
- Define echocardiography terminology and recognize the normal echo parameters for 2D measurements and ejection fraction.
- Interpret the Doppler measurements for valvular disease and list the 4 grades of diastolic dysfunction.
- Describe clinical correlation of echo data to determine when to refer to a cardiologist.
- Discuss the epidemiology and causes of aortic stenosis.
- Recognize the clinical findings, interpret echo findings and list treatment option for aortic stenosis.
- Describe what is involved in managing a stroke patient after the acute event.
- List the goals of a successful rehabilitation program for a stroke patient.
- Describe what is involved in managing a head injury patient after the acute event.
- List the goals of a successful rehabilitation program for a head injury patient.
- Review the benefits of immunization and list the guidelines for Standard of Care access to immunizations.
- Describe requirements and guidelines for the Medicare Physical. List appropriate documentation and billing for the exam.
- Identify at risk patients for venous thromboembolism; describe how and when to prophylax patients for venous thromboembolism and describe treatment.
- Explain the work up for deep venous thrombosis and pulmonary embolism.
- List indications for various pulmonary function tests and interpret pulmonary function tests.
- Review current guidelines for management of thyroid nodules and discuss utility of molecular biomarkers and thyroid ultrasound.
Accreditation
The Kansas City Southwest Clinical Society is accredited by the Missouri State Medical Association to provide continuing medical education for physicians. The Kansas City Southwest Clinical Society designates this live educational activity for a maximum of 16 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™. Physicians should only claim credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.
This program is eligible for application for CME credits in Category 2-A of the American Osteopathic Associations' Continuing Medical Education Program.
Application for CME Credit has been filed with the American Academy of Family Physicians. Determination of Credit is pending.
Refunds
The full fee will be refunded prior to 2/11/2012. After that date an administrative fee of $25 will be charged for cancellations received prior to the meeting date. After the dates of the meeting, it will not be possible to refund fees.

ADA Accommodation
Our lodging units are individually owned condominiums and are not part
of a hotel. Because all condominium units are individually owned and
are not part of a hotel, units meeting the accessibility requirements for
persons with disabilities may be unavailable or limited in number.
However, all of PCM's conference facilities and banquet venues are
equipped to enable access to guests with disabilities. The Clinical
Society complies with the Americans with Disabilities Act and will make
reasonable accommodation. Registrants with disabilities requiring

Deposits/Final Payments:
25% of the total lodging amount will be required upon making reservations. The balance on the room reservation will be billed to the credit card number on file 30 days prior to arrival. Full payment is required at time of booking for reservations made inside of 30 days of arrival.
Early Departures:
A fee of 100% of the remaining room nights lodging amount will be charged if an attendee checks out before their confirmed departure date. This may be waived for emergency situations but must be authorized by Copper Mountain, Inc.
Cancellations
made 30 days or more prior to arrival date, refund on the deposit amount received will be made, less 10%. If canceled less than 30 days prior to arrival date, the individual is subject to full forfeiture of the reservation value.
